We are specialists in CalGreen checklists and permits. CalGreen is all we do.
We have developed in-house procedures that allow us to provide your CalGreen permit documents inexpensively and quickly. We have state licensed CalGreen Special Inspectors who are authorized to produce and sign your CalGreen residential or your commercial checklist and permit documents.
In addition, we can typically provide your permit documents within two days. We understand every new project has a tight schedule. We will work with you to ensure you have your permit documents on time.
What sets us apart is that we are truly specialists in this field. We carefully review the checklist for your area and only check those items that are mandatory for your project.
It is important to understand that just because the local checklist calls something “mandatory” it does not mean it’s “mandatory” for your project! Your CalGreen Special Inspector can decide what is mandatory for you and thereby limit your construction costs. Moreover, we will deal with your local building department officials to ensure your CalGreen checklist and permit is approved.
A few jurisdictions in the state require a final inspection by a CalGreen Special Inspector. These include Santa Rosa, Sonoma and Napa counties, Roseville, and a few others. If your project is in one of these areas we will provide your final inspection and sign-off.
We take care of your CalGreen checklist and permit from the initial permit application to the day you enter your new home or building. Our expertise, and over 30 years experience, allows us to do this in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
CalGreen Mandatory Measures
The CalGreen Residential Mandatory Measures are a requirement of the California Green Building Standards Code. These mandatory measures are required on all new homes and residences. Furthermore, they also apply to additions and alterations which increase the building’s conditioned area, interior volume, or size.
The type of buildings required to comply with the CalGreen Residential Mandatory Measures include:
– One and two-family dwellings, townhouses, and factory- built housing.
– Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU’s)
– Hotels, motels, lodging houses
– Apartment houses and condominiums
– Dormitories, shelters, employee housing
– Other types of dwellings containing sleeping accommodations
Note that the requirements apply not only to single and multi-family homes, but also hotels and motels and other commercial buildings that include sleeping accommodation.
The mandatory measures include such items as plumbing fixture flow requirements, VOC limits on building materials, EV charging, energy efficiency, construction waste recycling, fireplace standards, and limits on the moisture content of building materials. In general these requirements are not onerous and do not add a significant cost to most projects.
