Santa Rosa CalGreen Services
We having been serving the City of Santa Rosa for over a decade. Over the past few years the growth of the construction industry in Sonoma County has been meteoric. Santa Rosa is the premier Sonoma County location for entrepreneurial businesses wanting to access a strong market share, educational institutions and public/private partnerships to help their businesses grow.
Santa Rosa is a business, retail and service hub for not only Sonoma County, but also Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, Plumas and Lassen Counties.
Santa Rosa’s location and its combination of family-friendly metropolitan amenities and natural beauty attract everyone from Generation Y to retirees. With a population of just under 180,000, Santa Rosa is the fifth largest in the Bay Area and 26th largest in California.
The Cannabis Industry and CalGreen
More recently Santa Rosa has opened it’s arms to the cannabis industry. As the largest city adjacent to the the emerald triangle, Santa Rosa is a natural hub for cannabis manufacturing, packaging and distribution. Highway 101 affords a direct line of transport for the emerald triangle counties of Mendocino, Humboldt and Trinity. The coastal environment of these counties produce the most sought-after marijuana flowers and products in the world. The City of Santa Rosa is the natural distribution center to markets through-out California (and maybe someday, the world).
The CalGreen Specialist
spe·cial·ist : /ˈspeSH(ə)ləst / noun
1. A person who concentrates primarily on a particular subject or activity; a person highly skilled in a specific and restricted field.
Santa Rosa, along with sister cities Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Sonoma and Napa have all embraced CalGreen as well. Some of these jurisdictions have also adopted the CalGreen Tier 1 Voluntary Measures. These measures place more stringent requirements on energy and water efficiency as well as many other impacts on your project.
The addition of the Tier 1 requirements places greater emphasis on having an experienced CalGreen specialist in your corner.
“Ok, but why do we need a CalGreen specialist if we have to comply with the regulations?”
Well, because many of those offering CalGreen services will take your money and check every box on the checklist. It’s very typical for exactly this to happen. The building owner then ends up paying for every item that is check at permit submittal – even though some of these cost items are not actually required.
What your consultant may not understand is that you do not have to comply with every CalGreen or Tier 1 requirement!
At CalGreen Energy Services we have been involved in the design and construction industry for many decades. We understand the intent behind the CalGreen requirements. As a result, we are able to critically review your project and understand where some the requirements don’t apply. When submitting for permit we clearly state for the permit reviewers why they are not applicable for your project.
If necessary we will deal directly with the Santa Rosa Building Department to ensure your project does not get unfairly burdened with inapplicable CalGreen requirements. THIS is the difference a CalGreen specialist can bring to your project. Fewer requirements mean lower construction costs, fewer constructability issues and fewer change orders. A CalGreen Energy Services we can save your project time and money – and we can do it at rates comparable to our competitors.
We respond quickly to emails and voicemails. We will put together a proposal for you right away and can typically start on your project within a couple of days.
